Are you talking about a publicly accessible domain?  Accessible from the internet?  Changing the IP of a public domain will require modifications to your providers DNS.
ping the name of the other dc:

nameofdc.company.com

or

nameofdc.domain.company.com

It depends of youd active directory domain name.

This can be done only inside of your network.
To ping from external, as said jss, you have to change the dns of your provider.

What exactly are you trying to achieve?

It depends with which dc your xp client authenticated with at logon.
How do you change this,
Change the priority of the SRV records within DNS.

If you look in DNS you will see your zone company.com
In there you will see a record that says same as parent folder.
That probably has the IP of the other server you dont want.
Create a new record - leave its name blank and then add the right IP
