Those pages are NOT using tables -- they are using DIVs to format the content. &nbsp;There are endless questions coming into EE every day because people cannot get DIVs with CSS to work correctly, trying to emulate tables. &nbsp;This is typical of most CSS designs, they try for X-browser compatibility, but often fail.<br />

If you really did use conventional TABLE layout, you would find NO X-browser compatibility problems at all, as all browsers render tables the same in ALL versions. &nbsp;But older browsers (even new ones) ALL differ on their rendering of DIVs styled and positioned by CSS, and people struggle with this every day.<br />

Your question really should be -- why don't these DIVs act like tables for X-browser compatibility -- and the answer is DIVs do NOT, and never have, been an exact substitute for predictable table layouts.

I told my client to upgrade his browser. &nbsp;Thanks for the cool and understanding responses. &nbsp;Some guys forget that there are many designers who are not familiar with new attributes, like DIV shiz. &nbsp;That's why I come here, to get the iggy from the pros. &nbsp;

That certainly fixes the short term problem, but you should not rely on that for customers. &nbsp;<br />

There are generally two ways you can go here. &nbsp;One is to use browsershots.org to really test the display across multiple browsers and resolutions. &nbsp;So long as the design remains constant or fairly close to constant in all of the major ones (IE, FF, Opera, Safari) you should be okay. &nbsp;There will always be some margin and padding and font and line-height differences between the big four, but that's where good CSS can save you.
