asp.net open document via webservice, don't have access to response object

I have a webservice that sends a document to a webpage.  I pass up the id, and the document (image, doc, ppt, xls) is opened in the browser.  I need access to response.clear, response.addheader.

I got it working using a webpart, and context.response.clear ...  but had to get rid of the webpart and start over (too long to go into why).  I don't want my client (asp page) to have to worry about the doc type or anything.

My question is, how do I access those methods in a regular class?
