Oracle 10g-TNS Timeout, Windows Vista

Hi Folks, I have installed Oracle 10g on Vista , I was working fine  there was no problem in logging SQL PLus or using Toad 8.5 but all of a sudden When I moved to a different city and i tried to login , system was giving me a TNS time out error when there are no changes in the parameters just location changes?

Thanks

you probably have network issues reaching the server itself.

go to command line and try...

tnsping     (You'll probably get timeout again)

ping
(You'll probably get timeout here too and/or long times and/or packet drops)

yeah, its timeout message, now what shoud I do
timeout in both ping and tnsping?  or just tnsping?

if both,  contact your network administrator.
Because if ping can't reach your server, that means you don't have a good network connection to it at all, so obviously database traffic can't move across it either.

If ping works but tnsping does not, then you may have problems with your listener on the server.  Check your listner.log on the database server.
Both can't ping. Its on my local machine. Please guide me the steps to resolve it.
Thanks for your help
If you can't ping, then you don't have a network connection to your database server.  You need to talk to your network administrator to diagnose the problem between your local machine and the remote server.
there is no remote  server .I have installed the server on m y machine and I have the admin rights.
please all of these: listener.ora, sqlnet.ora, tnsnames.ora, ldap.ora  (you may not have all of them, post the ones you do)

they will be in your $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin  directory
also, what is your machine name and your ip address.

what has probably happened is your change of location changed your ip address
and now your network lookups are trying to go out to your old ip address which will break your ping, tnsping and all other sqlnet traffic.
