FULL-TEXT Catalog ppopulation in SQL server 2000 not WORKING !

Currently Full-Text Catalog is getting populated. What are the checks to be run to make sure the index is getting created. It is running for the past 2 hrs for 2 tables with 4,38,005 and 4,63,378 records in each table
SELECT FULLTEXTCATALOGPROPERTY('Entities', 'Populatestatus') reads 1
dbcc sqlperf('logspace') does nor show any increase in logspace.
Any pointers to check on how much is indexed and how much to more to go will help.
