Exported reports vanishing

Our ERP software creates reports that can be exported to Excel, a PDF, CSV, or other file types.  To do this, it uses Internet Explorer.  All our systems are running IE7 on Windows XP Pro.

When a user goes to export a file, the program opens an IE window, and the file download dialog displays, with the name of the report.  The first time you do this each day, it works fine.  However, subsequent attempts to export reports give me the file download dialog, but when you choose save or open, the dialog box dissappears, and no file is downloaded.

I have checked and emptied all temporary files  on the affected PCs, and even changed the temp location, with no resolution.  This is not happening to all of our users, but the ones it is affecting are experiencing it often.

On the machines with the problem look at the settings for Temporary Internet Files (Tools -> Internet Options -> General tab -> Settings button in Browsing History section).  You can see the image below for an example.  Compare those settings with the ones on a machine that doesn't have the problem.  Let me know what you find out or if you have a question.

All the machines have identical settings.  One resolution I have had is to reset the browser, but it has not been long enough for me to determine if this is a permenant fix.

The reset seems to have taken, as I  no longer have reports of this issue.
I'm glad the issue is gone.  Thanks for the fun question, the grade and the points.  I'm glad I could help.
