Uninstall McAfee AV while deploying Symantec Endpoit Suite
I have the new Symantec Endpoint Protection Suite, and I'm running it through a management server. Deployment is easy enough, but I'm wondering if there's a way to uninstall any other A/V program before it installs. Any ideas?

Unfortunately, we have 70 pcs and servers total and A/V was installed individually. Sigh.....guess that means manual uninstalls... yay!

I've done the 'manual' version before in a fairly large and spread out network.
The key was to use PSEXEC and run the 'uninstall' command from my workstation.

So, how would the syntax look for my purpose, and is it done from run line or command prompt?
c:\pstools\psecex.exe \uninstall \\FILESERVER\shared\IT\Sof

Just a note, the path in my last entry was to where the installer for the av program resides, I neglected to add into the path the name of the target pc, where i want to uninstall the program from.

Okay I've gotten it so that I can install on a single PC remotely, buy using:
c:\pstools\psexec \\COMPUTERNAME \\FILESERVERNAME\shared\IT
I tried adding \uninstall to the end of it, but it errored out. Also tried several other iterations.
Can't figure out the syntax from the help file. I'm not the savviest scripter. Or command liner.

I am going to try to get the script whiz (sirbounty) to check in on this one.
I taught him everything he knows, but unfortunately, I've forgotten it all.

Having the Symantec thingy is never good....you should see a doctor about that....

What AV are we uninstalling ? From the post it seems like McAfee....bad idea.....but we can help
If it's McAfee, do you still have ePO installed ?
if not, how many machines are we talking ?

You must uninstall any other AV programs before installing new ones.
If you are talking about a single computer, just use the "Add/Remove Programs" applet in your Control Panel.
If you are talking about an Enterprise version of McAfee, 'uninstall' is one of your configurable options in ePO.
