Ok, then take a look at the comments in this previous thread by YarnoSG on 03.06.2003 &gt;<br />

My solution was to boot to an alternate OS (In my case, ERD Commander) and move the .EVT files out of c:\winnt\system32\config; then I ran a CHKDSK. <br />
<br />
A different solution would be to disable the event log, reboot, move the .EVT files (while the system is not trying to use them), then re-enable &amp;&nbsp;re-start the event log. Then go the the event viewer; the system should re-create them, if it does not, your problem lies elsewhere. &nbsp; <br />

Sorry folks, have tried all solutions so far with no luck. &nbsp;still getting the error 193: 0xc1 when I try to start the service. &nbsp;And the unknown interface when I try to view any logs.

Finally figured out the problem. &nbsp;After checking all those solutions you guys provided (and I thank you) it happened to be a 0Kb file &quot;EventLog.dll&quot; in the system32 folder that was causing all this headache. &nbsp;I deleted the file and was able to start the service. &nbsp;Once I started the service the file was automatically recreated and is already 55Kb at this time.<br />
