asked on

Motion detection software to log off user after no movement for 30 seconds or other specified time.

I am looking for a software solution which can monitor movement at a public PC and if the webcam does not sense any motion for more than 30 seconds or a time I specify it automatically logs off the user.  I am looking for either a full Kiosk solution under $100 or even a stand alone application which can be placed on a PC which already has a kiosk type solution in place.  We are running Windows XP and Mac so a Mac solutions would also be nice.

Thanks

There is no ready made code for it and here isn't place to post your programming projects. You can post your project in freelancing sites for it.

Actually while waiting for a response I found a company who makes Kiosk software which has this as a feature but it is $150 before even purchasing a webcam.

Post this project in RentACoder or other freelancing sites, then you can hire a coder to code this application for you below 100$

Why not automatically log them off if inactive mouse or keyboard for X amount of time? I'm not sure why a camera is necessary I guess...

Security

Security is the protection of information systems from theft or damage to the hardware, the software, and the information on them, as well as from disruption or misdirection of the services they provide. The main goal of security is protecting assets, and an asset is anything of value and worthy of protection. Information Security is a discipline of protecting information assets from threats through safeguards to achieve the objectives of confidentiality, integrity, and availability or CIA for short. On the other hand, disclosure, alteration, and disruption (DAD) compromise the security objectives.
