asked on

blank.aspx do you want to save this file appears on load of microsoft CRM website 4.0

We are running CRM 4.0 and it works fine on all systems apart from one notebook that pops up a message blank.aspx do you want to save this file continually.

It only seems to appear when navigating the main page, ie sales, marketing, list accounts etc. When I pick an account the popup that follows for the account record does not appear to create this blank.aspx problem

Hi,

So when you click on an Account or any other entity that entity opens up fine but if you click part of the left hand navigation panel what do you see exactly??

Cheers,
MH

We get a pop-up window inviting us to save file blank.aspx with the option ok or cancel. If you select ko, it saves but then asks you again anyway, and if you cancel it asks you again.

Strange one!!!

Is there anything else installed on the notebook's browser like a Yahoo or Google toolbar.  There could be an issue with a popup blocker from something like this that is affecting functionality.  Try removing any such thing from I.E. and having another go.

Maybe even a reinstall of I.E. might be in order.

Cheers,
MH

Have you tried resetting this computer's IE settings back to default and clearing the temporary Internet files?

What version of IE is it?

One other thing - Try doing an IISreset on the CRM server (whenever it is convenient for your organization) and see if that makes a difference.

The latest Windows Updates changed the association with aspx files.  When prompted, save the blank.aspx file to your desktop.  Right click on it and open it.  Choose to open it with Internet Exporer and choose "always use this..."

It should work in CRM now.

Adamwolfson answer is correct.  Also note to uncheck the box to always prompt for this type of file.
