It all depends on the adapter card and the functions it supports. Most higher end card can do this. I assume you are making a RAID 5 array from the 3 new drives and leaving the original drive as is.

i would go for raid 1 instead of raid 5 since you need to retain the os and data on the current drive. you can second raid 1 for the other two harddrives. only problem is you get less space.
