I haven't used it for a while but seem to remember that you need to go to the install directory (c:\program files\vmware\vmplayer and run vmnetcfg.exe or something like that. You can then configure the network settings.

I am using vista as host, xp is the virtual operating system.<br />
I have already tried to use that exe but, it does not have a custom bridge option :(.<br />
I &nbsp;feel that NAT may be a solution, but I am not sure (I am not very good at networking issues).<br />

Your main problem is that you didn't run vmnetcfg.exe AS ADMINISTRATOR IN VISTA. &nbsp;In Vista, to be able to make changes, you must run the program as administrator. &nbsp;I can tell you weren't running as Administrator because the &quot;OK&quot; button on your screendump is greyed out.<br />

1. &nbsp;click on the windows button-thingy and type vmnetcfg.exe in the search box.<br />
2. when you see the program listed, RIGHT-CLICK on it and select &quot;Run as administrator&quot; (Better still, right-click and go to properties, and under the &quot;Compatibility&quot; tab, select under &quot;Privilege Level&quot; to &quot;Run this program as administrator&quot;)<br />
3. Now on the &quot;Host Virtual Network Mapping&quot; tab, choose the network adapter you want to use for VMNet0 and click &quot;OK&quot;. &nbsp;As far as I can tell, VMWare Player ALWAYS uses VMNet0 and there is no way to use VMNet2 or 3 or 4... I run VMWare network in bridged mode and player automatically maps the virtual machine network to an arbitrary network card on the host machine.<br />
But this card may not be always the one that is suitable for me (for the user).<br />
