That's because it exists only in theory. AJAX is a NOT a server push technology; it is a server pull technology. The client pulls data from the server when it needs it. The server does NOT PUSH the content to the client once data is available (aka COMET). The reason this does not exist is because the browser does NOT keep an indefinite open connection with the server. So there is no way for the server to PUSH information to the client/browser. Once the server has given the client the requested resource/data, the connection between the two is closed. The server no longer knows about the existence of the browser/client.<br />

Its more like emulating server push as stated in this article. It must be possible, iv seen dozens of test examples.
