Once you load the database onto SQL 2005, you cannot move it back to SQL 2000, as it is not backward compactable. So, take a full backup and keep it seperate before you do anything.<br />

Or even have the SQl 2000 running (without any user connections) until everything is fine in 2005.

All this feed back is great and very helpful ! &nbsp;What's the best method to transfer the databases. &nbsp;I was thinking after I backing up the db's I want to zip them first, then copy them to the new server. &nbsp;The new server is at a remote location so the data will be going over the WAN. &nbsp; Is zipping the db's the best method to keep data integirity or is there a better method when transfering data to a remote site?<br />

We are upgrading from MS SQL 2000 &nbsp;standard to MS SQL 2005. &nbsp;Has anyone had any problems with the upgrade? &nbsp;Such as errors, data loss? &nbsp;We are actually getting a new server with MS SQL 2005 already on it but we are going to have copy over our existing 2000 database. &nbsp;I just don't know what to expect and we are under a very tight time frame. &nbsp;<br />

Hi,
We are upgrading from MS SQL 2000  standard to MS SQL 2005.  Has anyone had any problems with the upgrade?  Such as errors, data loss?
