How to capture traffic and analyse the same from cisco 3750 / cisco router
HI,
We are having heavy traffic over a link set up towards remote end. My question is , how can i configure
a cisco 3750 switch or router to capture the traffic and analyse the different sessions(protocol wise/appliaton wise) and to calculate the bandwidth utilized by each application. Could anybody suggest
any good tool (freeware/ is solar winds ok) for the same and how to configure it ??
Any help will be appreciated.

SNMP statistics are not the same thing as protocol analyzation. If you want to see what prototocol is using what percentage of the pipe, then SNMP will do the job. If you want to see ALL of the traffic, and want to actually look at it, then you will need to setup a protocol analyzer like wireshark (what used to be ethereal is now called wireshark).
Wireshark is free, but it will need to listen on a spanned port.

whether spanning also does the same ?
what software( freeware ) you recommend?
