Sever running SQL Express 2005 upgraded to Domain Controller

First of all I'd like to acknowledge that what I did today was careless.

I have a server running SQL Express 2005 at Office B.  I tried using Hamachi to promote the SQL Server to be an Active Directory Domain Controller with the domain located at Office A.  It promoted fine and required a reboot.

Once rebooted, the SQL Service will not start.  I decided I would just demote the SQL Server at Office B, but now (even with Hamachi up and running), it can not find the other domain controller to demote itself.

I know this is a mess, but I was hoping someone would have some good advice as to how to get myself out of this sticky situation.  Please.

How do I change the account SQL Express uses to to start?   SQL is one of my biggest voids of knowledge.  I'm the lone ranger for a very small company.  So I'm learning as I go!  Your help is greatly appreciated.

You can do this in the Services admin tool

- Go to Administrative Tools on the server, then to Services.
- Find the SQL Express services, and double-click on it
- Go to the Log On tab
- If it is set to "This account" you will need to either change to a different account that is on the domain, or try running SQL Express as the "Local System account".  If you can, I recommend the latter option.

It wasn't the solution to my problem completely, but once I hurdle was crossed that was obviously the issue, this knowledge became very handy and expedited the process.  Thank you.
