Exchange 2007 Out Of Office Assistant not working, OOF

Autodiscover service works fine, OAB is not having any problems, so the issue is with the Out of Office Assistant. OOF is available through OWA, but fails to respond with Out of Office when sending a test e-mail from internal and external addresses. Outlook 2007 never displays the Out of Office Assistant, and comes up with the following error: Your Out of Office settings cannot be displayed, because the server is currently unavailable. Try again later.

My suspicion is with the output from the Test E-mail Auto Configuration test:

Availability Service URL: http://mailserver.domain.local/ews/exchange.asmx
OOF URL: http://mailserver.domain.local/ews/exchange.asmx

I wanted to change the above URL's to match our OAB URL which is mail.companyname.com, for testing but do have failed to determine how to change the OOF URL. This may not even remedy the problem, but I have tried everything else.

I have read all the articles from Exchange Genie and others, but have been unable to fix the underlying issue. Thanks for reading my question, and I welcome a solution.

Are you able to ping mailserver.domain.local from your Outlook client?
Try accessing http://mailserver.domain.local/ews/exchange.asmx using browser from this Outlook client and it should prompt you for credentials.
Once you are logged in, you should see
http://mailserver.domain.local/ews/Services.wsdl

Are you able to access your mailbox using Outlook Web Access? if yes, try setting up the Out of Office from OWA.

AA230002,

https://mail.domain.com/ews/exchange.asmx prompted for credentials, after logging in, I did see https://mail.domain.com/ews/Services.wsdl

I am able to ping the mail server without any issue. Outlook works great on all the clients in the office. OWA works internally and externally. Out of Office does* work from OWA, but not when you specify a date range. My main focous now is getting the Out of Office to work inside Outlook.

Thanks-

The primary address of the users is @domain.com, the Outlook client machines are part of the domain that Exchange is installed.

No errors produced from the "test e-mail auto configuration"

After running the Get-WebServicesVirtualDirectory command, the internal URL was http://server.domainname.local/ews/exchange.asmx

When I go under the Exchange management console, choose Server Configuration, Client Access, Offline Address Book Distribution, open OAB (Default Web Site), the URL is in the following format: https://mail.domain.com/OAB

Our OAB has been working fine and not generating any errors. If I use the set-WebServicesVirtualDirectory command, will this affect the OAB settings?
