Sorry, I should have said that Access Connections is very buggy with Vista. I'll accept your solution as one of multiple when I get the final answer. What I am hoping for is a way to manage this using Group Policy or another central configuration.

Disabling bridging would prevent IP routing between networks, but it would not prevent someone who own3d the laptop from accessing the internal network. Is there a way to explicitly disable the WiFi as soon as Ethernet is detected or the system is docked?

You should be able to find that within Wireless Network Policies Extension. I can't recall specifically, but you I know you can create wireless network Group Policy settings. Sorry I can't recall specifically.

It may also be a setting (something like ''disable wireless on cable detect'') in the Advanced tab of the wireless card's Properties, though I'm not sure those are exposed in any GPO's. If it's NOT there it might appear if you update the card's drivers, and yes - I realize that makes it an even-slower process... unless you can push the newer drivers and find a place to make that setting in the policy editor.

I've looked into this type of situation before, and the only viable (for me) alternatives I've had are from the laptop manufacturers. &nbsp;(like access connections for thinkpads, quickset for dells).<br />
I'm not a programmer, and I'd heard the devcon route as well, but that would require device ID knowledge for every wireless card type in your environment, and then modifying said program for anything new - not feasible in my world.<br />
I'd love for someone to have a free/easy solution, but I've come up with nothing in recent months, other than the manufacturer utilities.<br />
As for Thinkpad's Access Connections - have you tried their latest versions of it? &nbsp;Or maybe just use it for this specific task?<br />

Disable wireless when Ethernet is connected

Wireless networking is anything related to the transfer of data between two (or more) devices without the use of a physical connection, ranging from getting advice on a new Bluetooth headset to configuring sophisticated enterprise level networks.

Wireless Networking
