If you are using Exchange 2003 already with a Windows 2003 (now in 2008 DC), you don't have to worry about the AD connector.<br />

It is used in migrations from earlier versions, mainly from Exchange 5.5<br />

<li>Todisable the ADC service on the server that is running the ADC service,right-click My Computer on the desktop, and then click Manage </li>
<li>Expand the Services and Applications node, and then click the Services node. </li>
<li>In the right pane, right-click Microsoft Active Directory Connector and then click Properties. </li>
<li>Change the Startup Type to Disabled. The next time that the computer starts, the ADC service will not start. </li>
<li>Click Apply, and then click OK. </li>
<li><b><span>Touninstall the ADC service, use the Active Directory Installation Wizardon the Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server or Microsoft Exchange Server 2003CD. Open the \ADC\I386 folder and double-click the Setup.exe program.Follow the prompts to Remove All ADC service components.</span></b></li>

We have one 2008 DC (that replaced the primary 2003 DC which has the Exchange connector installed), and we have two other 2003 DC's in our Domain, so I think we are still a Windows 2003 Domain site. &nbsp;I know when I had disconnected the 2003 DC with the Exchange connector on it from the network, we could add new employees to Exchange, part of the Exchange tabs were missing until I reconnected the 2003 DC on the network.<br />
<br />
I would think that I still need to have the connector for AD but I am not sure. &nbsp;The AD connector is only installed on the one 2003 DC that we are replacing with the 2008 DC. &nbsp;<br />
<br />
Should I install the AD connector on one of my other Domain Controllers?<br />
Do I need to remove the AD connector from the replaced DC?<br />

It would be ideal to remove the AD connector and have a clean network without any reference to previous migrations.<br />

So what you are saying is that we don't need the AD connector in a Native 2003 Domain? &nbsp;So how does the Exchange tabs in Active Directory Users and Computers show up on the DC's if you don't have the connector?<br />

We are retiring on of our 2003 Domain Controllers (we upgraded it to a 2008 DC) and it happens to be the holder of everything including the Exchange 2003 &nbsp;AD connector. &nbsp;I want to remove this computer for our domain, but because of Exchange I cannot do that yet. <br />
