Creating a Print-ready PDF

I need to be able to create print-ready PDF files to send directly to a printer. Our users will add custom text and a logo to these files.

We use Coldfusion 7, IIS, Windows Server, MSSQL.

I am looking at a Coldfusion solution first. Coldfusion can creat PDF's, but we need print-ready quality. I am willing to look at alternative software/plugins/ etc. I am not willing to switch servers.

Thanks for any advice.

You may want to add one or more ColdFusion zones. You will get much better response that way.
OK, it looks like none of the CF folks have anything to add to this question, let's try this from the PDF side. I have no experience with Cold Fusion! I have no idea what it does, or how to use or program it.

What exactly do you mean by "print-ready"? What type of PDFs are you going to create? BW or color? Are you planning on printing on a electronic device or a traditional press? How will the PDFs be created? Will you have a fully custom PDF, or are you planning on having a mix of static content with variable content? Will static and variable content be mixed on the same page?

Hi,

By Print Ready, I mean a high-quality PDF suitable to go straight to press on a traditional press. My printer tells me that I can take Adobe Acrobat Pro and save as "press quality."

So, here's what I'm envisioning.  Picture a greeting card.  We have a PDF created with most of the card sitting there waiting for two spots of variable data:  (1) some text, (2) a full color or BW logo.  User then uploads the logo and types in the text, and I need this system to create the print-ready PDF for me.

So the static content will indeed be mixed with the variable content, and the variable content will be created by the user.
