My visual studio is working with .net framework version 1.1 I am having problems upgrading to 2

Is it possible to upgrade my visual studio 2003 which is running on .net framework 1.1.4322 sp1
to .net framework 2
I tried installing the .net framework 2 but it stopped installing because it said there is a later version on my computer
I looked in my add remove software section and saw that it said I have Microsoft .net framework service pack 1 186 mb
I also have .net framework 3 which is only 56 mb
If I have 2 why isnt my vb using it? How do I connect my vb.net to it

I tried loading the express version but it stoped loading I think because I had a later version of the .net framework on the computer
I dont want to wreck my 2003 becuz of compatibility issues with fellow programer
can I uninstal .net framework 3
and .net framework 2.o sp1 and try installing 2008 vb again

Just if you have beta version of .net framework 2.0 or 3.x. Regular versions of 1.0, 2.0 or 3.5 doesn't interfere with instalation.

I would consider keep working with 2003 a negligency. maybe you can suggest him to upgrade too.

there can be lots of issues. Do you have an english Windows version?
In severe cases, I choose to reinstall all the machine from OS.

yes i have english version
Short of rebuilding your machine, you can try uninstalling ALL .net framework service packs and .net framework installations via add/remove programs, as well as visual studio 2003. Then, try installing them over again, in chronological order. You shouldn't have to install the .net frameworks as they will be included with the visual studio 2003, 2005, and/or 2008 installations.
