Default Global Address List is messed up

I'm not sure what I did.  My Default Global Address list is gone.  When I look in EMC it's not there.  When I look in ADSIEDIT it's there, but it looks like a record(a little text file looking thing) instead of folder icon.  Also when I try to look at the properties for it nothing happens.

Yes, I was following Microsofts guide here http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/exchange/bb936719.aspx#ModPermAddListCont for segregating the address lists.  I entered this command:  Get-GlobalAddressList Default Global Address List | Add-ADPermission -User "Authenticated Users" -AccessRights GenericRead -ExtendedRights Open-Address-Book -Deny:$True.

the text icon that you are seeing via adsieidt.msc is because a deny is set.
the deny needs to be removed, but it cannot be done from windows 2003 support tools.
install windows 2000 support tools on some other box and then use the adsiedit.msc from that to remove the deny via adsiedit.msc

When I click on Properties through the Win2K adsiedit, I get a popup that says "An invalid directory pathname was passed".
