Well it is really required. &nbsp;Local administration isn't dangerous to the domain.<br />
<br />
All you will do is slow them down by creating unnecessary distractions or drag. &nbsp;Most web or win application debugging requires local administration access.<br />
<br />
If you're developers aren't trustworthy you have far bigger problems and not trusting your developers is creating an unhealthy environment.<br />
<br />
If you are truly paranoid, put the development computers in their own private subnet, domain and OU but let them control the computers so they can work without being hindered.<br />

I mean no offense but in my humble opinion I'm thankful I don't work at your company. &nbsp;I work at a company with 6,000+ developers worldwide (I manage a team) and if they weren't local administrators many would quit and go elsewhere.

It is not about trust at all. We trust them to code applications for us. I don't have to explain my company's reasons and policy about this in public. This is purely technical issue which needs to be answered. Judging my company's environment is not the topic here.<br />

I have 30+ years of programming experience. &nbsp;I have experience with companies trying to restrict privileges for programmers like what you are doing and it always backfired.<br />

I guarantee that not providing full local administration access will cause nothing but problems over time.

I appreciate your concern and advice. Restricting thier accounts will be only on the desktop machines they use for office work. They still have complete development environment (Windows 2003 servers) which they have full admin access on. This will help us having source code control, minimize virus attacks, reduce access to other users' machines, etc.<br />

Running IIS under restricted user account
