Wireless Issue

We have a wireless router with around 4 PC's connecting to it.

We have quite big premises and so we installed another additional Wireless AP to boost signal in certain areas.

Problem is..a laptop keeps picking up one connection, then dropping the other...it keeps switching between the two and dropping connection...what can I do?

What kind of Access Point are you using. How do you connect to the AP? Are you using Windows Wireless Zero Config or a software provided by the wireless LAN card you are using?

Have you assigned the same Wireless ID and encryption key for both of your access points.

i.e. you can make them separate SSIDs if you don't want roaming to occur. Or even if you do want to let them roam you can set their preference order on the Wireless Networks tab.

If they're the same SSID, prioritizing them creates no separation, because both access points are connected to using the same entry.

Sometimes the wireless card will have an option in its Advanced tab to use aggressive roaming (you would not want that selected if you don't want them to switch as soon as possible).
