I am using the Vista Ultimate 32 SP1 from my MSDN subscription and Windows Update finds no new updates at this time

No. All I did was install Vista Ultima from a share drive on top of a previous working Business Edittion Vista. process denied the UPGRADE and isntead did &nbsp;a &quot;clean&quot; install without formatting or changing disc partitions.<br />

I have not much time to troubleshhot so I an installing a really fresh copy booting from CD unit I managed to get.<br />

I will update case after OS install completes.<br />

I am restoring previous image of this machine that was running Windows Vista Business under a 3rd party domain for whom we do no thave the password, but know how to change it and unjoind the domain ... then I will try if the turn on/off works under the original OS<br />

No, not at all .. id didn't .. I place the image of the original Vista Business and all problems are gone ...<br />

anyway ... I am closing this un-resolved issue as there are only 2 posts in the world for such an error.<br />
