Net 2.0 Membership and Roles aspnet_paths table?

I thought the aspnet Membership and Roles provider (Aspnet_regsql.exe -W) would solely direct or limit Users and Admins to or from specific directories.

Q. What is the dbo.asp_Paths table used for?

Q. Do I still need to include <authorization> and </location> tags in the web.config?
