Codegear Delphi PDF to Fax component
Looking for a solution to Fax a PDF file using a fax modem using Delphi.
I am aware of these options but would prefer to stay away from them:
1) Apro. Unsupported and process of converting to APF format is convoluted.
2) nnwfax/WinFax Pro - WinFax Pro not supported.
3) Online service such as efax.com or smartfax.com. What we are faxing would violate certain privacy laws.

I understand that you wish to stay away from that library because it's no longer supported but... I'm using it for several years in different applications and to tell the truth, once you get it working, you don't need much of support.
Now, you right that Apro cannot convert Pdf format but you can still make it working by converting your Pdf file to Word format first and then convert your Word file to Apro fax.
I don't know about any free Delphi component to convert Pdf to Word but you can download a free converter at:
http://www.free-pdf-to-word.com/download.html
Launch the app with your parameters, wait until it's done and process from there with your faxing.
