Cannot open properties windows
I am trying to diagnose some SQL problems on a Windows 2003 Std (R1) server and noticed something very strange... I cannot get PROPERTIES on any services in the Services MMC, nor can I get the properties to display on My Computer in Component Services. I right click and choose 'Properties' but the window never comes up. STRANGE. No viruses no this box. FYI: This is a domain controller.

OMG... I cannot view any of the properties. Nothing noteworthy in the Event Viewer when I checked it from a remote PC.

Would you mind trying a couple of things? I'm wondering if this is specific to the MMC. Can you open active directory users and computers and try to view the properties of users, groups, computers?
How about event viewer. Can you view properties of items in there?
And then, what about device manager. View properties of anything in there?
Please post back the results.
Also, if you can view your event viewer, please post any error or warning that you believe might have a connection to this issue.
