troubleshooting Question

exchange 2003 - disable smtp

I asked this earlier, got a suggestion of just disable the user account would work.  It did not work.

Again, we want to disable SMTP for a user who already left the company.  We want to keep his mailbox but do not want the mailbox to continue receive emails from both internal and external.   User domain account is already disabled but emails still going into his mailbox.

Please advise.
