I am working on an ArcMap 9.2 project that displays many different points representing bus stops on a street map. Associated with the street map are screenlines. What I would like to do is create a script that will select only stops that meet certain parameters, In this case, the stop points must be closest to the screenlines. The problem is, the lines were drawn, so they are not geocoded like the points are (with lat/long coords). I know I can write scripts in ArcMap, and I am familiar with SQL, but I am not sure what I need to do or what my first steps should be.
Attached is a screenshot with some callouts of me trying to explain what I am after. I am a visual person, so its difficult to explain exactly what I am after by just writing. I hope its enough to give someone a grasp as to what I am looking for.
