Sharing variables from subreport to another subreport

Hi,
I have a report that contains two subreports. I was asked to do an update to this report and the only way I can add this feature without re-designing the report is to insert a third subreport to get the data that i need to then pass it to the two existing subreports. (i wanted to add a subreport to the subreports themselves but this is not possible in crystal).
I have shared variables in other reports but from subreports to the main repoort.
is there a way to share variables from a subreport to another subreport?
would i need to pass it to the main repoort and then share it from the main report to the second subreport?
