Error installing Nortel Contivity VPN Client on Vista 32-bit
I'm trying to install Nortel Contivity VPN client on Vista Home edition (32 bit). When I execute the program, (eac607d.exe), I get a pop-up of internal failure with error 0x80040707. I am the administrator on this machine and has also selected to run it as administrator. I have tried also running in XP compatibility mode, but again no luck. This computer has always been a vista machine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Turn off UAC?

I tried cleaning the CD - even using a new copy. I have the files local now. As for right-clicking the file, in vistaI do not see an options to uncheck the box that says Protect My Computer And Data From Unauthorized Activity. I saw that earlier as a solution recommendation for similar problem in XP, but I'm not sure how to apply that to vista. I'll try turning off UAC and replying shortly after re-boot.

Turning off UAC did not work either. Any other ideas?
I'm afraid not, only thing else I know would be to install with recommended settings instead of custom and run it 4 or 5 times some people have said they eventually get it to install that way. If you can get it installed then it works perfectly.

I'm not selecting any custom settings and have tried 40-50 times by now. thanks for trying.
Still no luck?

A restore back to factory defaults was the only thing that worked. I guess my Vista was sick somehow.

1. Go to the directory that holds the file for launching the installation (for example, Setup.exe).
2. Right-click on the installation file and select Run As.
3. Uncheck the box that says Protect My Computer And Data From Unauthorized Activity, and click OK.
Alternatively, if you're running this installation from a CD, you may need to simply clean the CD and try the installation again. Another possibility for resolving this error is to run Windows Update on the system before running the installation routine.
