ok - i think this is probably an easy one (hope).

we have an exchange server 2003. clients running outlook 2007 all working fine. we have some mac users who have been connecting to the exchange server using imap and it has been working fine up until a couple of days ago.

now users cannot send to external domains using imap (or pop). this goes for their email account on the exchange server and a couple of other external email accounts they have setup in entourage or thunderbird.

so it seems there is a problem with our exchange server relaying mail out to any external domains when it is not coming from an outlook user. have been getting 5.7.1 unable to relay for joeuser@domain error messages.

think it may be a virtual smtp server issue on my exchange server but can't quite work out what it is.

any help is much appreciated - if you need any further info please let me know.

cheers - rory
