New exchange server not creating default addresses for newly created mailboxes

I just created a new Exchange 2003 server and when I went to create a new mailbox, I added the new user and I'm now waiting in the Active Directory Users and Computers for the default email addresses to show up either in the column under email address or under "email addresses" in properties.  Seems that it is just sitting here like something isn;t turned on?

What gives?

* Probably seems to be a Recipient Update Services (RUS) issue. Looks like the RUS has not updated the address list properly.
* Possibly can try to manually update the RUS.
* To do so, In Exchange System Manager expand the "Recipients" folder on the LHS panel and select "Recipient Update Services"
* On the RHS panel highlight "Recipient Update Service (your domain)" and right click it. Select the option "Update Now".

This should hopefully resolve your problem.
Good luck (^_^)

Well there was some interesting data for the server and exchange under RUS.

It showed an old server that is no longer here and the very first exchange server.  It took a few changes to get the old info out of those two RUS fields.  I would get errors but finally changed one to one DC and the other to the latest DC and it seems to have went.  The email address has been entered now also.  I just wish I knew what exactly is going on here when I had them configured for so long with old info.  :|

Exchange establishes and configures the RUS server during installation as the nearest and best Global Catalog server (GC) to use to check with. If the Exchange server and DC are at different sites then this can cause delays - depending on what replication intervals have been set. In your case the RUS was pointing at an old DC so the updates where not happening.

Now that you have changed this everything should be ok.

Whenever I install a new Exchange server at a site I usually create a new RUS for that Exchange server to point to it's nearest (local) DC so that new users created at the site get the e-mail addresses created in the shortest time. You can always right click on the RUS and choose Rebuild now.

I also set the Update Interval on properties on the RUS to Always Run.

I think you have got everything sorted now but post back if you need any more information
