CERC SATA 1.5/6ch corruption

FOlks our cerc controller states raid 1 as bad. Can I disconnect one drive and reboot and still make sure the data ok. I beleive though something has corrupted the data on both drives. If I reboot with one drive can I rebuild the raid 1 using one of the drives and one new drive?

Yeah, that's what RAID 1's are all about.  Replace the failed disk with a fresh one and take the rebuild option.  If you simply remove one of the drives and try to boot like that, the controller will still complain that the array is damaged.

In the case where neither of the disks went bad and this is just a fluke, then simply reformat one of them and then rebuild the array.

Just make sure that if one of the drives really is bad, you replace the failed one, not the good one :-)

Actually when I run the PC controller diagnosics both drive show as OK. My fear is that the actual controller channel has corrupted both drives. Is that possible? I disconnected both and reconnected one at a time and still cannot see any data.

Thanks guys, you've given more insite. All is fixed now since one of our techs connected to another raid card and was able to pull the data off of one of the drives. But yes, what caused it initially??? If I get any other info I'll resubmit, but for Thanks for all your help.
