Adobe Reader installation error 1402
I am trying to upgrade the version of Adobe Reader from 7.0 to 9.0.
During the installation I receive and this error:
Error 1402. Could not open key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Softwar e\Classes\ CLSID\{C52 3F39F-9C83 -11D3-9094 -0010BD0D5 35}\ProgID . Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contactsyour support personnel
I have tried manually uninstalling Reader 7.0 using these instructions:
http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb400728&sliceId=2
and
I have also tried using the installer cleanup utility from Microsoft
Nothing has work. I receive the same error each time.

Can you try to repair the registry by defragging it by Sysinternal tools?
Download Pagedefrag http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb897426.aspx and run it. It will defrag/repair your registry. Can you try?
