Can't get to BIOS

I've got a Compaq Presario SR2150NX running Vista.  After the PSU died I replaced it, but it still didn't boot.  I tried resetting the CLR_CMOS_HP pins but I accidentally booted the machine with the pins in the wrong position.  Now when I try to start the machine I get a screen with the information listed below, but I can't get to the bios.

Any ideas as to how I can fix this?

Thanks very much,

Matt

Have you reset the pins to their original positions?

See if this helps:

unplug the system
remove the battery
set the jumper to CLEAR
hold the power button in for 10-15 seconds

--- than you can either let it sit for a while, or go ahead and:

set jumper to Normal
put battery in
plug in system
try booting

Sounds like you scrambled the bios, then.
Does this bios have a "failed-bios" boot key combo. If yes, it should be salvageable.
Meanwhile I will see if I can locate a manual.

I don't know if it has  a failed bios boot key combo.  Where could I find that out?

Here is HP's support page for this MB

Thanks

In the manual, probably in the section for the bios. It might be mentioned in the 'Features' section.
Thanks for the link. The HP/Compaq site is such a bear to navigate.  : /

I tried the steps you listed and there was no change.  I will try the password reset and the new steps you listed and let you know.

Thanks for all the help

I tried to reset the password and tried hitting F1 when during startup but there was no change.  The keyboard light never blinks so I'm wondering if it will even recognize any input from the keyboard.

Can you think of anything else I could try?  Would something like that Ultimate Boot CD work?

If the bios does not do a hardware check, I doubt it. But you could try, Or maybe a boot floppy if it has a floppy drive.

I get the feeling the bios code got corrupted, or the chip got 'burnt'.
You can try contacting HP/Compaq and see about getting a new CMOS chip, or see if someone has a eeprom burner to try to flash that one.

This is a good place to start:
