Why would resubnetting a network cause problems sending mail
Hi Everyone, I chose to resubnet a network from 255.255.255.0 to 255.255.252.0 (have been using 192.168.0.1 - 192.168.0.254 as previous range, with internet router on 192.16.1.1 with a proxy in between) to increase the available IP's as we were running out.. I changed the static IP'd devices subnet to meet the new subnet and deleted the DHCP scope and created a new one to include the new subnet. Everything seemed to be working fine however one thing i found was not running after the changeover. No one is able to send e-mail (via pop3/smtp accounts, no exchange server) but we are able to receive mail?? Have i missed something obvious? could this be a result of the resubnet??
thanks in advance and as usual any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Sudhirchauhan, one of the first things i tried. It connected sucessfully with no problems. I initially thought that is was a proxy issue so tried that to see if it was being blocked but i was able to connect ok?

Leon,
Is that server (smtp and pop3) inside the network or outside your network.
if inside the network: make sure you have its ip address changed to the same scope -if it is static which I believe should be- if it is outside the network check the dns, try to ping the dns and the mail exhange mx record.
hope this helps!
