Cannot find user in Active Directory

We have an Active Directory domain which contains approximately 150 users.
Recently we had a new Manager (PaulM) join the company and created a user account for him.
If you right click on any user account in the domain and select properties the following window gives you the option to select the ' Organizational ' tab.
Under the Organizational tab there is an option to select a Managers name.
My problem is that if i go to the Organizational tab under any users account, and then select the change button under the Manager option, i cannot find the user account (PaulM) that i need to add.
Any ideas why PaulM cannot be found ?

Thanks,

Andrew

The new manager's name may take a while to show up in AD. You may have to enter the name manually like so: <domain>\PaulM

bmatumbura is right - but if it doesn't show up later make sure you verify the user account PaulM exists.  I've had it where the account creator didn't actually create the account - they created an alias/contact instead.

The PaulM account was created a month ago and i can see it in the OU where all the other user accounts reside.
The PaulM account was created by right clicking on another managers user account and selecting ' Copy '.
Using this option you can then go through the following set of windows entering all the new users particulars (name etc), but the memberships to groups and so on is copies over (you don't have to add the new user to all the groups).
I'm familiar with that account creation method, but thanks for clarifying...
Created months ago, but not showing when you do the Change in the Organization tab... hmmm... object type there set to "User"?  correct domain showing as well?  do other names show up ok?

It is strange, type is set to User, looking in the correct domain, other names show up no problem, just not Paul's.
If i search for Paul, rather than PaulM he still doesn't show up (all other Paul's in the AD are listed)
that is strange!  Did you try bmatumbura suggestion of just manually entering "domain\PaulM"?

how about comparing his account with the one you copied his from when you created it?

Can you see the original/"copied from" account when you do the change manager?
Have you already done the tab-for-tab comparison?
It was a strange one but if i ran the find in  ' Entire Directory ' it found PaulM.
Beforehand i was running the find on the domain which the account resides, but it wasn't finding it.
Anyway, it works, many thanks !!
