Moving a TS server from per device to per user problems
I'll try to be as brief as possible. Had some issues with licenses various people installed for TS. Currently running with 60 device and 40 user licenses installed. All TS servers were set to use per device, so a ton of temp licenses have been handed out. Now that they are expiring, it is coming to light that we have this issue. I took one TS server and set it to use per user licensing under the config manager and then reboot both it and the license server last night. Today I come in and it says it is set for per user, but none of the 30ish people logged onto it were handed per user cals, just per device.
We are having some users that I need to get pretty creative to get on. If I could get this one server to switch over and start using the 40 per user cals that are just sitting there on the server, it would really buy me the time to get this sorted out properly.
Any ideas why the server can be changed to and reporting use of per user licenses and none of them are being handed out?

From terminal server configuration, did you redirect the license server to look at your new per user license server?

Wait, I'm sorry. Redirect the license server to look at a new license server? I haven't made any changes on the single license server, nor created a new one. The only change is that I set the TS server to use per user licenses, but it is still pointing to the same license server, as that is the one that already has the per user cals installed.

I knew they weren't managed, but I didn't know it wouldn't even report them being handed out. Does each server need a reboot after the config change or will they simply hand out per user for new connections? It is kind of hard to tell without seeing them being handed out, and after I changed the first server to per user, I had other users still getting errors that there were no more licenses.
I'm not completely sure, but I think the change should apply immediately for any new connection.

Hmm, I will switch them over and see how the next day goes. I will let you know, thanks.
