Savin 3515 how to configure unit e-mail to send documents?
I'm trying to configure a Savin 3515 to e-mail documents scanned by the unit.
I believe I'm 95% complete - e-mail smtp server information entered, has an Internet connection, etc .
When trying to send a scanned document under the Fax function the unit scans document tries to send but fails with an E-1error. The dealer tech support and sales department has not returned my calls even though we appear to have a contact with them - frustrating.
The unit has many configuration menus I'm seeking a list of required e-mail configuration settings to enable the e-mail function.
Thank you,
Peter

croberds,
We are connecting to an POP3 account.
Yes. I would prefer the web interface but I unable to connect via the IP address, however, we can print to the static IP address using the Savin print drivers. Is there something that needs to configured on the Savin to enable web management?
Thanks in advance,
Peter

If you can ping it you should be able to browse to it. After you get to the first screen which usually just shows you if there is a paper jam and how much toner you have, you click on Administrator mode, and the default login for Savin is usually 'admin' for the login with a blank password.
If you are getting and E-1 then chances are you aren't even connecting to the POP3. Make sure you have a valid login and password setup for the account that is using the POP3. You should be able to do this via the console but it is much easier on the web page. On the TCP/IP page you also have to have it pointed to a gateway and a DNS server so it can resolve the smtp address.

croberds,
We finally were able to access the Savin via the IP address. Apparently, a firewall setting was blocking access.
The administrator mode is requesting a login and password. At the machine we do not enter a password code. Do you know what the default admin login is?

crobeds,
I able to access the Savin configuration page via it's IP address and send faxes via e-mail.
Thanks for the information and confirming the fax was accessible via an IP address. I was given nothing to work with and the Savin tech support or sales person would not return my calls. Needless I do not have positive remarks for the Savin/Ricoh tech support/sales.
I have another question on the Savin but I will ask it as a new question here.

Ricoh and it's family have been going through some changes (I used to work for Lanier but I think they will just eventually become Ricoh), but you should get better support. Savin's are usually serviced by a local dealer, so you can have great service in one city and not so good in another. Ricoh units are usually sold/serviced by direct offices (not all of them though) and their support is usually done through a 1-800 # and then dispatched to the local office.
I have had good luck with my Savin dealers, but as I have said that can be totally different from my dealers here in my area.
Glad you got it and I will look at you other question.

If so, usually the easiest way to be sure all of your settings are correct is to use the web interface rather than the machine itself. You can browse to it by it's ip address. Usually you get an E-1 if there is nothing communicating at all, so it appears something is not set up right. If it's connected to the network but not seeing the email server then you will usually get a 10-73 or 10-63 Network error.
Are you connecting to an exchange server or to a POP3?
