I am looking for ways to improve performance and reduce maintenance on may ASP.NET application that currently comprise 58 aspx pages that are all working fine. I have now successfully added third party custom controls to my application by updating the reference dlls, registering the assembly and using the "imports" on the first few pages. Finally I have update the web.config file with the following
<pages>
   <namespaces>
       <clear>
           <add namespace="myCustomContrlols"/>
----

my question is:
1. Having added the namespace in the web.config file, Is it neccessary to have "imports myCustomControl" statement on each of the 58 pages that will be using the new custom control?
2. Can I move all the "imports" statements to the web.config file under <pages> so that I have one place to maintain these as opposed to 58.

Thanks
