Digital display not displaying desktop.

I have an user that can't set her resolution higher than 1024 x 768 on her LCD monitor.  It's capable of better than that.  So, I wanted to switch her over to using the digital cable instead of the analog figuring that it may be the analog.  With the system power on, I switched the cables.  ONce the DVI cable was connected, the monitor knew it was, but never displayed a picture.  I've tried going into the menu on the monitor, but it won't display that either.  If I hook the analog cable back up, I get a picture.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

The graphics card is using the right drivers.  The problem I'm having is when I connect the DVI cable up to the monitor, I get nothing no the screen.
Didn't help, but accepting to give points.
