PREFATORY NOTE: I'm a "newbie," so please assume limited knowledge on my end and, if offering suggestions, kindly use terms a neophyte would likely grasp. Thanks much.
We're running Windows Small Business Server 2003. Intermittently, my partner can't reach files on the server over the VPN connection from his XP Professional laptop. (He can connect through VPN using the "Connection Manager," but that's as far as he gets.) When he tries to access files on the server, he gets a message like these:
"\\Server\k&s docs is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions."
"The drive or network connection the the shortcut 'Clients A-C.lnk" refers to is unavailable. Make sure the disk is inserted or the network resource is available, and then try again."
He has been granted all appropriate permissions, and he can log onto the server using Remote Web Workplace.
Thanks for any guidance you can provide.
