Now you state that it try's to boot to XP but then just errors out or reboots? can you explain any error messages you may get...?<br />

It is possible the hard drive could be bad. &nbsp;It is possible that windows coould be corrupt. &nbsp;Without any EXTENSIVE information ....to be BLUNT...you need to post MORE information as thoroughly as possible. &nbsp;What model Sony vaio and possibly the specifications on this laptop etc, what error messages if at all that you are getting...etc. &nbsp;The more info the merrier.<br />
