Sizing up UPS for server

Greetings Experts.  I am purchasing a server and would like to get a UPS at the same time.  However, I have a dumb question.

The server is a HP Proliant DL380 G3 Server that has redundant 400W power supplies.  When shopping for the UPS, does that mean I need a UPS that can handle 800W?  I appreciate the help.

Thanks for the posts and information.

Callandor, is that right?  I never knew that redundant power supplies won't draw twice the load..  Very good.

paulsolov and andyalder, I got conflicting numbers when I tried both calculators but both were extremely useful.  I know what size UPS to use.

I will award points as soon as I am out of the 8:30am meeting.  Thanks again for your help and information.

Computers use whatever power they need, independent of the power supplies.  Even with one power supply rated at 400W, the actual draw will be less, depending on what components are installed.  Installing a redundant power supply does not suddenly increase the current demand.
Makes sense after your explanantion and I thought more about it.
Thanks again for the help guys.  That helped me understand what I need for a UPS.  I broke the points up the best I could so if you feel cheated, let me know and I will do what I can.  I appreciate your time!  Best of luck.
