Exchange 2003 Front End and Back End
Dear Experts,
I have a single exchange 2003 installed with 700 mailbox'es, the server performs slow and im going out of disk space, I bought a server with more capacity, my plan is to move all the mailbox's from the old one to the new one and configure the old one as a front end server as i hace my SSL , Active Sync , Pop3 and OWA running on it, I have two questions.
1- Do I need to change anything for my pop3 users and mobile users.
2- During the mailbox's movement, How can allow my users to access their email?
Regards

As long as the old server is designated as front end (see my answer point 1
) they should be able to connect with pop3 to the old server and retrieve their mailbox. Only thing to keep in mind is that POP3 must ALSO be enabled on the backend server for this to work.
For both oma and pop3 there are no changes required on the client side.
During the mailbox move, they do not have access to their mail, until you've designated the server as Front End. There is no way around this.

Thanks for help
No, just POP3 needs to be enabled on the Back End. HTTP and SMTP is enabled by default.
