how to configure rras for pptp access

I am experiencing an error when trying to connect to the server over the internet the error is 721 connection time out.
The server is configured as a two nic setup and when on the lan side i can connect but not from the wan side. What i can not understand is as of two days ago i had ten plus users connecting in remotely through the same router that is in place. I ran the internet connection wizard to make an update to the SMTP connector and ever since then i have been unable to connect to the vpn (ie error 721).

I have since then completly reconfigured the server to use two nics after removing the routing and remote access server. I then reconfigured the remote access via the wizard according to sbs best pratices as directed by microsoft press. I know this is not GRE as it was working before the router is in PPTP passthrough and TCP 1723 and 47 ports are passed through to the server.

Can someone please shed some light on this much appreciatted

router is draytek 2800 with pptp passthrough enabled and forwarding port 1723 to server on the lan.

I will check with the ISP about gre.

SBS is 2003 standard running sophos anti-virus
Afraid I am no help with configuring the Draytek. A common question with the router is how to forward GRE, and I haven't seen any solutions. The manual shows an extensive firewall that could be blocking it, but the firewall only allows for port configuration not protocols. You could always use the Draytek VPN, which is very good, rather then the server's VPN.

Thanks for the assist RobWill

I am versed in data comms and i have as you suggested placed the vpn server onto the router to circumvent this issue. But in the ideal world i would like to work this out so i will percevere with it.

thanks
Using the SBS as the VPN server has definite advantages, especially with name resolution.
Sorry, no other ideas at this point but I will continue to follow.
