HP NC6000 display broken

The display seems to be broken on my laptop as you can see in the attached screenshot. Which component should be changed to make the screen ok again? Can it be a loose cable or should the entire display be switched?

Hook up to an external monitor and see if the display is OK. This will sort out the video is OK or not. Do that and post back.

Hello,

In agreement with Punky you would want to connect the display to an external monitor.  This is to very that the graphics card works correctly.  After doing this you would want to most likely replace the display.  As a certified Dell technician I have seen this problem multiple times.  You cannot simply replace the cable because the LCD is one unit.  I would strongly suggest to contact HP support at 1-800-474-6836. I hope this helps :)

The external monitor shows the same image so my conclusion is that the graphics card is broken, right? Is motherboard replacement the only solution?
