Mail volume full

Running a Netware 6.5 server with Groupwise 6.5.  2 volumes  SYS:  and MAIL:   mail volume is an NSS volume and is full.  I have no available space left on the drives.  I'm looking for someone to give me advice on quick fix or limp along solultions.  If this was your problem...what would you do?

Well, if the entire volume is filled with email, then there's really only one solution, and that is to start deleting stuff.

First, force empty everyone's trash. That might free up enough space to get you going again temporarily while you work on a more permanent solution.

Next, tell users to delete old messages they don't need anymore. People will complain, but you need to make it clear that this is NOT optional. Important emails WILL be lost permanently if nothing is done.

Emphasize that they should delete messages with attachments, since these consume a lot more space than plain email. Make a point of having them also delete SENT messages as well as incoming. People often forget to delete sent items.

Then run Mailbox Statistics from the GroupWise Mailbox Maintenance menu to see who's actually using the most space. Go to that person, and have them archive or delete some large items.

Thanks for the great information !!!
Running a Netware 6.5 server with Groupwise 6.5.  2 volumes  SYS:  and MAIL:   mail volume is an NSS volume and is full. (just like a prior question)  no matter how much mail we delete or how many other files are deleted ( I just moved away all the client install files) the volume immediately fills up.  Doing a normal WIndows (or DOS) based search does not reveal any large files or anything unusual but we are still crippled with a full drive. No incoming or outgoing mail
